Reclaimed pawn brokers wall mounted shop sign. The traditional pawn broker symbol is thought to have originated partly from the Medici family crest, as the Italian family were very successful bankers from the 15th Century onwards. The symbol has also been attributed to the story of Saint Nicholas giving three poor women each a bag of gold so they could get married. The back plate is 4cm wide and the ball diameters are roughly 27cm. There are some dings and indents to the gold painted metal balls.
