It's A Family Affair
Rupert has an MSc in Tropical Agriculture and spent his professional career in The Third World working in aid and development, a far cry from salvaging the past. Pru trained and worked as a journalist before joining Rupert in Africa. Together they have built English Salvage into the UK's best stocked reclamation yard with a global reputation. A lot of hard work has gone into building the business, an astonishing design and architectural resource for the unusual and the rare. The couple travel extensively on buying trips and have a keen design eye and an uncanny ability to spot the next big trend.
Chris is the manager and head of sales. He is the level headed and methodical person that holds the team together and makes sure that everything that needs to be done is! He has been with English Salvage the longest and knows the yard stock inside and out.
We worked with web developers to make this fabulous and user friendly site that truly reflects the eclectic nature of the business and showcases all the incredible stock. Our brilliant studio photographers are tasked with the tricky process of photographing all the items which enter the yard, from the miniature to the massive! We pride ourselves on our website and we think English Salvage may be the only yard that lists ALL its stock. The website is updated every day, a labour of love which is down to Harad.
Helen helps Chris out with sales and is responsible for shipping and deliveries. She is a friendly voice at the end of the phone for customers and a valued member of staff.
Everyday we have things from as small as a key to as large as a complete building coming in and going out of the yard. The logistics of storage, collection and delivery is not to be underestimated. We have a great team who struggle valiantly to keep up with Rupert and Prus' obsessive buying and the packaging and shipping of our constant sales. Our hard working yard staff brave the great British weather, day in and day out. The team is headed by yard manager Matt, ably supported by Neil.
With three of Rupert and Prus' four children now adults, they like to get involved in the family business as much as possible. Barney has a sports degree from Durham University, he joined the family business after graduating and works wherever he is needed. In his spare time he is developing a sports related app which he hopes to bring to market in the near future. Millie has a business degree from Lancaster University and specialises in Marketing, she developed our social media strategy and maintains many of our social media platforms. She will be heading off to Africa in the near future to work for a charity supporting micro businesses. With the wonders of the internet she will continue to maintain our social media sites from afar. Toby is studying physics at Durham University and has a passion for rugby. Every holiday he can be found putting those muscles to good use around the yard.
