We love vintage enamel shops advertising signs. From the ubiquitous Typhoo Tea and plain Cadbury signs to much sought after pictorial signs advertising anything from soap to milk powder. Many have a humorous or patriotic angle and familiar mottos such as ‘Guinness is Good for You’ (can’t argue with that!) The collection started with an advert for whisky found covering a farmer's water butt in Zanzibar! Another favourite is one for ‘Girls Friendly Society’, We also love railway signs, cardboard advertising placards, signs advertising agricultural products which often have pictures of animals, soap and chocolate adverts showing ‘before and after’. Old cast iron street signs are also popular.
