Pair

Pair of weathered cast stone temple lions or Foo dogs (we have a few pairs in stock please enquire for more details).  These face opposite directions and as is traditional for these guardian statues, the male holds a ball under its right front paw, whilst the female holds a cub under her left one.  The ball moves freely around inside each lion's mouth.  They originated in Chinese Buddhism and were traditionally thought to protect the building, temple or tomb where they were placed from harmful people or spiritual influences.
