An old French grape picker's hod or 'hotte' as they are called in France. These metal hods were worn on a picker's back and the grapes were placed into them as they were harvested. The straps are probably original and are likey to be leather. Knocks and signs of age, as can be expected with salvaged items like these. Refer to photos for further details.
