The classical gods of Ancient Rome and Greece make the most popular subject for garden statues, usually nudes or with carefully positioned drapery. Commonly found characters include Venus, Aphrodite, Pandora, Atlas, Neptune and Apollo along with a accompanying vast of gladiators, discus throwers, putti and cherubs. Figures of rural peasants are also popular, including sets of figures depicting the four seasons, usually young girls or boys holding fruits, corn or flowers depending on the season. We always have for sale a good range of old garden statues for sale, the occassional rare original 18th or 19th Century piece in marble or stone and plenty of reclaimed composition stone statues from the mid 1900s onwards.
Statues of Hindu and Buddhist deities are also popular and we usually have a range of Buddha statues, including antique carved stone examples.
No garden should be without the quintessential garden gnome, love it or hate it, these mischievous characters have captured our attention across Europe since the 19th Century. We sometimes have original 19th Century gnomes, usually in terracotta.
