Fine Italian white marble sculpture of a female nude bather, seated on a rocky outcrop and holding a circular dish into a stream. The sculpture is by an artist in the circle of Adolfo Cipriani, a Florentine sculptor active from 1880 - 1930. The statue has an integral canted base. Previously been used as a fountain, it now has the groove for the water-pipe filled in at the back of the rock. The maiden has a 1-2cm chip to her left little finger, and there are two small chips to the base. Minor marks, scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and use, and slight granulation and small indentations from its having been used outside as a fountain.
