Impressive French 19th century rouge marble chimneypiece with sinuous breakfront mantle over an intricately carved central cartouche in classic Rococo style. Bordered with carved garlands of ears of wheat. The frieze is flanked by roll stopped acanthus endblocks over console jambs and plain footblocks. Measurements given are maximum overall. The opening measures 78cmW x 74.5cmH. The top has suffered a crack but it has been repaired and reinforced underneath.
