19th century fire basket with two pairs of urn shaped brass finials, engraved fretwork and beaded/rope design front. A striking piece which looks very similar (if not identical!) to a fire basket located in the magnificent Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire. The house was designed in the style of a 16th Century French chateau and was donated to the National Trust by James Rothschild in 1959.
Has had some restoration work done.
