Antique early Neo Classical marble urn, reputedly from 11th Century Otterburn Castle in Northumberland, on a stone plinth. The urn depicts a green man, interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, egg and dart detailing, twisted rope banding and scroll leaf designs. The urn has a head shaped handles, one of which is missing. The urn itself is 59.5cm wide (including the handle) x 41cm diameter (internally) x 58cm high, the plinth is 65cm square x 112cm high and made from three sections with a drilled hole in the centre. Weathering and chips commensurate with age.
