This antique C19th cast iron gate was probably once part of a communion rail. Beautifully ornate with a patinated green and gilt paint and surface rust, it is gothic in style. At the top there is a frieze in a foliate design, above a vine and wheat-ear detailed panel of columns with trefoil arches and ornate columns. A manufacturer's plate confirms its provenance, a Church outfitting company in Lyon, I Jacquet.
