With the advent of the penny post in the UK during the 1840’s, letterboxes / mail slots were installed in doors to assist with the delivery of mail. Early examples were often very small compared to modern designs. We have a range of new, well made solid brass letter plates, with or without clappers, and occasionally vintage and antique ones too.
