Since Medieval times, British landowners and gardeners have sought to frame their gardens with architectural forms and decorate them with ornaments influenced by classical Italian and Greek styles, making the garden an extension of the living space.
English Salvage offer a large range of antique and reproduction garden ornaments, planters and furniture, selected to build on this tradition of enhancing nature. We love the colours of rusty iron, lichen covered stone, subtle bronze and weathered timber. Wherever possible we buy and sell genuine antique pieces, be they an 18th Century lead cistern, an old handcarved stone trough or a 19th Century strap bench. These increasingly scarce original pieces are complemented by more recently made planters, garden furniture and ornaments, selected for the quality of construction, style and value for money. We also like the quirky and the unusual - a giant cauldron converted to a fountain, a galvanised Edwardian bath for a planter, a cute cast iron pig or a bit of antique agricultural machinery converted for use as a table.
